Help Your Church Protect Children Before Exploitation Happens

Prevention changes everything. At Remember Nhu, we believe the most powerful way to end child sex slavery is to stop it before it begins. Since 2005, we have been supporting children and their communities to break the cycles of exploitation and poverty through education, safe homes, family support, and vocational training.

This Is a Real Problem. And Prevention Is Possible.

Every year, over one million children are vulnerable to exploitation due to poverty, abandonment, or crisis.

Most organizations step in after abuse has already happened, but we believe it should never get that far. And it doesn’t have to.

Remember Nhu exists to end child sex slavery through prevention by identifying at-risk children early and surrounding them with safety, stability, and opportunity.

Through safe homes, foster care, and education, children can:

  • Stay out of trafficking situations
  • Go to school
  • Experience consistent care and support
  • Build a future filled with hope

How Your Church Can Make an Immediate Impact

There are two primary ways your church can partner with Remember Nhu:

A group of people standing in front of a home

Sponsor a Home for Children

Provide a safe, family-style home where children are protected, cared for, and given the opportunity to grow.

  • Homes are led by indigenous caregivers
  • Children receive physical, educational, emotional, and spiritual care
  • If enough families from your church participate, the home is dedicated to your church

Sponsor Foster Care in a Country

Support foster families in a specific country who are caring for at-risk children.

  • Help keep children within their communities
  • Support local caregivers and long-term stability
  • Opportunity for deeper church involvement over time

What Sponsoring a Home Actually Looks Like

This is not a complicated program or a financial burden on your church community.

It starts with a simple step:

  • Your church invites Remember Nhu to share with your congregation
  • Families choose whether to sponsor a child
  • If enough families participate, a home is dedicated to your church
  • Your church becomes directly connected to that home and its children

The goal: Around 7–12 sponsor families from your congregation. Each family contributes monthly to support one child’s care.

The Impact of a Single Church Partnership

When a church steps in, the impact is immediate and long-lasting:

  • 12 children helped immediately when a home opens
  • 100 children helped over the life of a home
  • 6 years of average care per child
  • For every child helped, that child will go on to help an average of 7 more children

This is not short-term aid. This is long-term prevention and transformation.

Why Churches Choose to Partner

Churches consistently share that this partnership:

  • Gives their congregation a tangible way to live out their faith
  • Builds unity around a shared mission
  • Deepens awareness of global needs
  • Creates opportunities for ongoing engagement and connection
  • Allows families to personally invest in a child’s future

Many churches also choose to:

  • Send letters or small gifts to children
  • Follow updates as the home grows
  • Visit homes when opportunities arise

Frequently Asked Questions

Are we being asked to fund a home as a church budget item?

No. Remember Nhu simply asks for the opportunity to share with your congregation. Sponsorship comes from individual families who choose to participate.

Is our church too small?

Not at all. Churches with fewer than 150 people have successfully sponsored homes. If needed, churches can also partner together.

What happens after a home is sponsored?

Your church receives updates about the children and the home. Sponsor families can send letters, photos, and small gifts. Many churches develop an ongoing connection with the home over time.

Do you remove children from their culture or families?

No. Children maintain relationships with their families whenever possible. Visits and communication are encouraged.

Are children pressured to become Christians?

No. Children are never forced or pressured. Care is provided regardless of background, belief, or worldview.

Why is English sometimes taught?

English can significantly increase future earning potential, helping children build stable, independent lives.

Can we support a specific country or help open a new home?

Yes. Depending on current needs, your church may be able to support an existing home or help launch a new one in a specific region that you feel passionate about helping.
